History of PWM
OUR JOURNEY THROUGH TIME
Established in 1959 in the quaint town of Occoquan, Prince William Marina embarked on a journey that would shape it into the unparalleled marine destination it is today. Originally a small fishing supply store and boat retailer under the Lynn family, it later transitioned ownership to Dick Krause, who continued the legacy of providing small to medium-sized boats and boating supplies. In 1985, the next chapter unfolded as Carlton Phillips and Bob Bagley took the helm, bringing with them a shared passion for racing cars and a vision to transform the marina into something extraordinary.
A VISION UNVEILED
Carlton, a visionary mechanic and innovator, partnered with Bob, a skilled salesman, to create more than just a marina — they aimed to establish a haven for families and a vibrant hub for boating enthusiasts. The dream materialized, and Prince William Marina became synonymous with exceptional customer service, dedication to boating excellence, and a commitment to creating cherished moments on the water.
EXPANDING THE HORIZON
The business expanded over the years, acquiring Riverview Marina in 1992 and Harmony Seaport in 1996, leading to the creation of the modern Prince William Marina. The 14-acre resort-like marina boasts 310 slips, a state-of-the-art boatel, secure storage facilities, and numerous amenities to cater to every boater's desire. In 2009, Bob retired to enjoy drag racing life and more family time.
THE PWM FAMILY
At the heart of our success lies our commitment to family values. Carlton, Doug (son of Carlton), Debbie (Carlton's wife) and Michele Price (General Manager) lead the charge, supported by a team of dedicated employees, including grandsons DJ and Corey, some with over two decades of service. This close-knit family extends beyond the workplace, with employees and customers alike becoming an integral part of the PWM community.
AWARDS AND ACCOLADES
Our legacy is etched in awards, including being recognized as the top boat dealer in North America in 2010 and 2011. The Hall of Fame acknowledgment in 2012 marked three consecutive years of excellence. This recognition solidifies our commitment to doing what we promise and delivering unparalleled service to our customers.
